| Boston Common-Aug. 3, 2013: Here are photos and a short video I took of the monthly Women's International League For Peace and Freedom march against drone warfare; they joined up with the weekly Comm. For Peace and Human Rights vigil at Park St. in Boston . The WILPF members wore white masks to symbolize the people killed by US drones-also, they wheeled along a scale model of a drone. A lot of interest was generated in the public passersby, many of whom stopped to listen to the speakers and take photos. Also, one of our members John displayed a MAD Magazine poster of Obama dressed as the Drone (Lone) Ranger. Excellent satire. This blog came into existence based on a post originally addressed to a fellow younger worker who was clueless about the "beats" of the 1950s and their stepchildren, the "hippies" of the 1960s, two movements that influenced me considerably in those days. Any and all essays, thoughts, or half-thoughts about this period in order to "enlighten" our younger co-workers and to preserve our common cultural history are welcome, very welcome.
